MQM-P and PML-N Leadership to Hold Key Meeting in Karachi Over Budget

KARACHI, A high-level meeting between the leadership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is scheduled to take place in Karachi today, focusing on budget proposals and urgent development matters, sources confirmed.

The meeting is expected to include prominent MQM-P figures such as Sindh Governor Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Dr Farooq Sattar, and other party leaders. On the other side, the PML-N delegation will be led by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

According to insiders, the agenda will centre on recommendations for the upcoming federal budget, concerns of Karachi’s business community, and the overall development landscape of urban Sindh.

MQM-P plans to formally present its budget proposals, placing strong emphasis on a comprehensive development package for Sindh’s urban centres. Key priorities will include improvements in water supply systems, infrastructure development, and equitable allocation of federal funds.

This meeting follows a letter sent by senior MQM leader Nasreen Jalil to the prime minister just a day earlier. In her letter, she urged the government to ease the financial burden on the salaried class in the forthcoming budget, highlighting growing public concerns over rising living costs.
